Display of View Angle

  • In the lower right hand corner of all of the modules (Wall/ Roof / DiCAM etc) the viewing angle is shown, which is quite handy to check at times. However, it always rounds up to the nearest integer, which, when you are rotating at non-integer angles. (For example, when working with an octagonal structure, it can be useful to adjust your rotation angle to 22.5 or 11.25, etc)

    Is there some way to make this show decimal places as well?

  • If you go to display setting 1-7-2 in D-CAM and change it to a value of 0.5 it will only move the view half a degree. But it will display whole degrees.
    To understand that your view is 1/2 a degree, use your arrow buttons to move your view after pressing 7-1. The first move the number won't change the second time it will. So that means the first time it's at half a degree.
    Try it....

  • I've got that all down. But, when I am doing something complicated, it isn't always easy to keep track of that down there. When working with less than 0.5 degrees (for example, I was working on a 16 sided structure, and, was trying to rotate the view 5.625 degrees {360/32}). Knowing which increment I was on isn't intuitive.

    Since it is sometimes quicker to use 7-1 than creating custom user coordinate systems, knowing your exact viewpoint is a nice check, and, was hoping there was an easy way to see more down there.

  • Hi Joe,
    If I have to go back to a specific view many times, I create a (for example) a 16 sited beam in one corner and use 7-5 parallel to userdefined plane to return to the same exact view.

    Be careful with Dicam 7-5! It does not always work exact.

    Example:
    I have a gable with 91.40° in the ground.
    I want a 7-5 gable view and click the red lines.
    Now I expect to see the real gable view, but I get the same rectangular view as I get with 7-3 8O

    If I change the ground angle to 91.41°, I get a correct result. I think, the automatic correction has much too wide limits, or better, it should not be there at all.

    If I click the short green lines of the door, I get a front view correctly turned around 1.40°. with 7-1 I can turn the view (step by step) to a real gable view, which I cannot get with 7-5 :?

    In the case of a gable angle of 90.4°, the status line now would show 90°. If it would show 90.0000°, I could see the mistake immediately.

    @Dietrich's:
    1.40° automatic 'correction' is too much. in my example it makes 20 cm difference. Did you really want this?
