OpenGL viewer

  • Hi ArgentaHans

I always use Google Sketchup these days. You need to ask Jason to tell you how much the 3DS (3D Studio) export module is. I don't think it is very much.

You can then export your DiCAM model as a 3DS file and then import this into Sketchup and save it as a Sketchup file and send this to your client.

Sketchup is free to download for you and your client and will support all the textures etc as well as being very easy to use (much easier and more responsive than any VRML viewer I have come across). In addition, your client can take dimensions from the Sketchup model and produce hard copy drawings very easily.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

    Sundance: "No."
    Butch: "Neither do I."

  • Hansi,

I agree with Rob, it seems like exporting to .3ds and importing into Sketchup is the best way to share Dietrich's models (with non users). The VRML viewers that I have seen do not compare to Google Sketchup.

  • Hi everyone,

I have successfully imported my 3ds file into SketchUp. Looks great, thanks for the tip. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::grinning_squinting_face:

Any other tips on how to scale the model once in Sketchup? In the SketchUp scale function, I don't see any way to scale with a value. :question_mark:

    Cheers.
