Hello,
This is a simple question. We are trying to place markings of where other beams sit on eachother.
We have red dashed lines that have come in with some of single beam drawings (when we used birdsmouths), but we are not getting markings on timbers that are sitting in notches (such as purlins sitting on rafters).
What needs to be specifed?
Thanks,
Daniel
Der_Planer,
Thanks very much. I had tried that function, but was trying to over define what I wanted. It's simple.
Thanks,
dan
Jason,
Yes, that is what I'm looking for, but without the cutout on the bottom.
I supppose you would call it a half dovetail lap.
I have done a 3-9-4, have tried to explode it and delete the bottom cutout, but haven't had luck. Is that the right track?
Hello,
We want to create a dovetailed half lap joint to connect a tie beam to a rafter.
I have attached 2 photos. One shows a simple lap, the other shows the shape of the dovetail that we'd like to create, without a lap.
I would like to combine these two joints.
I'd like some suggestions.
Thanks
dan
Joachim,
I have attached a pdf of the joint.
I hope this makes things a bit more clear.
I don't know why, but I can't zoom in OpenGL, even when I change the step size
thanks,
dan
Hi,
I'm a new user from Canada. I'm just getting used to adding joinery.
I am trying to add a joint from a post to a rafter.
I have added a step notch into the rafter.
I have added a housed tenon onto the end of the post.
Now I want to birdsmouth the shoulder of the tenon, without deleting the tenon itself.
I have been shown how do it once, but I can't recreate it.
I know that I have to explode some joinery, but I'm not sure of the order.
I have attached a png, but I'm not sure if it will be very helpful, because I am having trouble zooming in OpenGL.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks,
daniel
