    Hello,

I am doing some experimenting with roof calculation and I am using the 4-4-5 (triangle) function to "notch" a roof surface around a wall corner. I think this would be very hard to explain, so I have attached a packed position to this message.

The problem that I am having is this: It appears in Roof Calculation that the roof has been properly "notched", but when it is rendered in Open GL the roof still passes through the wall and cuts it.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Hello,

I am working on a set of Architectural Drawings and would like to modify the line types in D-CAD.

The 6 preset line types are: Continuous, Dashed, Dash_Dot, Dotted, Dash, Dash_Long and Dash_Short.

Is there any flexibility with these line types?
Is there a way to import new line types?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Thanks for that.

Now I am using 1-2 in DCAD to import sections of the building. I want all the lines in that come in as part of these stored images to pick up their colour set and line weight from the template settings for the layers. When I right click on lines to view their properties I can see that some are getting the colour set "by layer" but that others still have colour set of "Blue, Red, etc."

How can I get all the lines imported to get their Colour set: "by layer"?

    Thanks,

I tried using a Log (profiled beam) in extrude, but I got an error saying that you can only use beam, sheet material, molds or auxiliaries.

    Are there any other alternatives?

    Hello,

I have all of my layer settings set in a template that is Letter sized. I want to take all of those settings and have them come across to a template on Tabloid paper. What is the easiest way to transfer the Layer Settings to a new template?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I discovered some extra keyboard shortcuts in Open GL yesterday.

I found that pressing X, Y or Z rotates the model around that axis. I also pressed something to change the light source settings.

I am wondering if Dietrich's can provide a full list of all of these shortcuts.

Also, are you able to change the speed of rotation?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Der_Planer,

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, the problem was that I was using the _StR and _StG files. I am supposed to overwrite the _Tle files, so that they are scaled for the 1,00m x 1,00m space they are meant to cover.

    It works great now.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

In Version 7, I had followed the instructions to create new textures and rename the .bmp and .png files in the GIF>FRIETEXT folder.

In Version 8, these file names are different, and after renaming them to _StG_00X.bmp and _StG_00X.png (at 512x512) they render on a much larger scale.

Also, when a roof is placed on top of the walls, the texture is compressed. See photo attached. Both of these walls have an identical texture applied to them!

Has anyone tried to make custom textures in Version 8, and have they had similar problems?

    Thanks,

What type of drawing (and what settings) do you need to export to D CAD so that you are able to see window and door swings on a floorplan view.

I have tried a few options, but can't get them to show up.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

I have received a DXF that I would like to import into PlanCad.

I have tried using a very small import factor, a very large import factor, and a factor of zero.

All that I can see is a cluster of the text and dimensions for the drawing, but no lines. I have tried to rescale the viewport once I have the dxf imported, but doesn't change the appearance.

In addition, I have noticed that PlanCad crashes often when I try to use "copy section" and take dxf lines from one drawing and paste them into another. I have also noticed that it crashes often when I am using 1-5-1 (Library "drawing section"). Last, it crashes often when hatching (2-01-Internal Point).

Is there something that I can do to the imported dxf's to minimize the amount of crashing?

    Thanks,

Could a fellow user go through the steps of inputting a collar beam in Roof Calculation?

I have rafters on both roof sides that I would like to connect with a collar beam.

I have defined a suitable width and height of beam, as well as a realistic collar height. I have been clicking one roof side, but can't figure out how to define the area, and which line should define the cutting plane.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello,

I started this joint with compound housing 3-8-6 (exploded the processes on each beam) and then applied the dovetail tenon 3-02-3. The dovetail has moved back to the face of the intersecting beam, as shown. I have tried moving it into place (2-03-3) so that I could use intersecting volumes, but it just shortens the opposite end of the beam. I have tried lengthening it as well 2-01-1. No luck.

How can this dovetail tenon be housed into the intersecting beam?

    Thanks,

    dan
