Continued from what I say about armature. It would be convenient if it was possible to make round items and then the program it self calculates the coordinates. In dicam it is possible to make round bars (rods) at any diameter. But in wall and ceiling design rods have a square section. Is there any way to create round bars in wall and ceiling design. Is it possible to create a rod in Dicam, and somehow transfer it to wall or ceiling design.

How I can solve this? Or maybe Dietrichs developers can create armature items for use in the material database - or maybe somebody have already done that? It would be excellent if the armature then was having the correct surface texture of kamsteel. And also the possibility to put in the walls ore ceilings bended armature - this could maybe also be predefined in the program based on what diameter armature you choose, and then you can choose if you want L-bended U-bended or even bended in 4 corners.

Then I would prefer to have the items in the material database. I would also like to put armature into the material database, and it is possible, but problematic with small diameters because the distance between coordinates are getting too small.

Hmm. I don't understand how. When I start 4-0, it looks like it starts up installation of Outlook 2000. And when I choose the database C:\Dhpdba\ on the laptop, it says that I am currently working on that database and I can't do anything. I want to transfer some new items on the laptop to my desktop computer.

Hi - and happy New Year!

Is it possible to define a section in material database like a concrete hollow core slab?? How to tell the material database, that I want these holes / channels in the slab? see also attached picture, where the holes are made by using intersecting volumes.

Depending on what kind of board you want at the inside, you can also use "post" to put in the boards as if they were wall timber. This is convenient if you want a wood board of some sort. You can also use material auxilaries like t.ex. #OSB = OSB material texture. The # means that you are now using an auxilary.

Ok - but we are not using small panels. We use OSB boards as under-roof, wind stop etc. so here the roof is much like walls. Even if you have more complicated roofs, each roof surface or part of the roof, could be seen as a "wall", where you can put your boards. One option is maybe that I put the boards as rafters, with a OSB auxilary.

But is there any place where I can read about this in details?

I tried but I don´t think it worked out. Why it is not made in the same way as in wall and ceiling design, where you directly can put osb boards of sizes you define??? Why make it so complicated in roof design??

I don't use the automatic Dietrichs project folder - I make my own folder outside the C-drive. And if you have one HDD for C-drive and other drives for data, this solution is of course good, if the C-drive crash or you have to format it because of virus or other reasons. I don't really make back-up files frequently, but one idea could be to take a simple copy of the project folder for the actual projects - on another harddrive, or just another place, a CD or whatever. Or maybe make a ZD-file, compressed project and copy it somewhere else.

I am using Dietrichs 6.02 on Windows Vista. To my opinion 6.02 is a bit more unstable than 5.04, but I don't know if it is because of Vista or what. See also my other thread. in general it is going very well. I don't know if it is faster than on XP, because I have not tried on this computer because it is quite new computer, and I got version 6.02 because of this new computer.
