Maybe - maybe not, but we will try. Because if I open PlanCad as soon as I have opened a position, there are no problems. Is it enough to send only the position? Because the packed project is 32 MB.

Ok - I just tried to regenerate the problem and that was very easy. I just open a position, go to different modules, wall, ceiling and D-Cam and OpenGL, take a picture. And then I try to start PlanCad - but Dietrichs freeze and doesn't answer. And I have to shut it down with ctrl-alt-del. So if I try to open D-Cad after working just a little in Dietrichs - then I can't.

    2. To be able to solve this problem, we need more information from you: Does the error occur regularly in a certain project. If yes: Can you send us the project? If no: Could you describe the exact sequence in which you make mouse clicks and call up functions before the error occurs?

Maybe problem 2 doesn't occur on Windows XP, but only on Vista?? On my desktop computer (with XP), it seems like I can open DCad anytime I want.

Hi. When I make the profile for a hollow core slab - then can I specify it as a panel or do I have to specify it as a beam or it does not matter? Because as a panel it will have all the benefits - like automatic cutting around ceiling outline, holes etc.

    - never work with lines or edges shorter than 1 mm - never work with lines or edges shorter than 1 mm - never work with lines or edges shorter than 1 mm - never work with lines or edges shorter than 1 mm - never work with lines or edges shorter than 1 mm - never work with lines or edges shorter than 1 mm - never work with lines or edges shorter than 1 mm........

Maybe I remember it now... :grinning_squinting_face: So it is because circular items are relative heavy - especially if they are made from many segment lines - in Dietrichs as well as in other Cad software???

Unfortunately I lost 1 days work, while working with this. The holes in the hollow core slabs, I had made manually with intersection volumes against steel tubes (I have not yet put them in the material database). And I had finished to put armature in 8 deck elements, when the program crashed and when I opened it again I was not asked if I want to recover from auto save files - and there was only basement floor - 1st. floor that I was working with, was gone.

The reason for this I guess is that circular items are relative "heavy" for the model?? One thing that might be a issue is the number of segment lines? In general I have used 20 segments for my armature. Maybe I should go down to 10 or 12.

Another option - that I will do now - is that I will have a position with the house model. (Luckily I had copied the house model into another position, when I finished the raw model, because I have two houses that are nearly equal). Then I can have positions, from where I make production drawings of max. 5 concrete elements with armature, if it is hollow core slabs, and maybe 10 if they are massive wall or deck elements. I think I can still manage to have the concrete project for these 2 houses ready for production on Monday, which was my goal. But to loose 1 days work - aaauuuuch...

One more for the wish list: Better compatibility with other Cad software. T.ex. following possibilty: You have drawings in PlanCad, and you can print them to printer, dxf or to PDF. That's fine. Now it could be nice if there was a built in dwg printer. This printer reads the drawing and reads the properties of the windows in the drawing and reads the scales. Then the program scales the drawing to 1:1 modelspace (if there are more windows with different scales, the program scales the main window to 1:1 and the other windows are scaled accordingly). The output are dwg modelspace drawings - can be one drawing for each one drawing in PlanCad.

Another possibility is that you can choose for the drawings where you want them - t.ex. plandrawings in 1:1 modelspace, and wall drawings in correct layout drawings. So that for several PlanCad drawings you get 1 dwg drawing file.

I have sometimes been asked to give my production drawings as dwg files, but I have said "no", because it doesn't work well. I dont think that production drawings in dwg are so important - but it could be a good thing when we are talking about plandrawings. Because not all are working with Dietrichs (unfortunately... )

A webspace - can it be a ftp-server?? But when I delete the picture from the ftp-server - then it will no longer be available here in the forum?

Hi. How to put a avatar, if I would like to use a picture, that I have on my computer?? I tried to put the URL (the file path, to the picture on my computer), but I am not sure if it worked.

Before: 9. I don't like the Di-Cam view, it is (almost) useless, to my opinion. Why not put openGL view and Dicam together, to make it possible to work in the rendered mode.
Now: Now I have OpenGL workspace, but I don't use it - æææh - why not? I just tried on my desktop computer and there I don't have the same problem as on my laptop. Even though my laptop is only ½ year old and my desktop computer is 3 years old my desktop computer is better at this point. When I switch on GL work space on my laptop and move the cursor (the cross), then the cross disturbs the view and makes a lot of lines, so the view is useless. ...

    11. As there is a wall macro a "ceiling macro" could also be very useful!!

This could still be very usefull for me - is it comming??

a9tech was a good hint. Another thing could be the possibility to convert dwg to PDF, without the autocad program. Is that possible??

I also want to ask: If I take the drawings from PlanCad and want to convert them to dwg - then the drawings must be saved in dxf and then converted to dwg. But what happens to text, measurements, colors and scale?? From earlier experience I found it difficult to make good dwg drawings of drawings from Dietrichs.

In the house (or 2 houses) that I am working with now I put a independent wall inside the "real", and then I can use this other wall for the steel. To put the two things together on a drawing would just be to insert stored image two times. And then I assume (I hope) that the steel will be in another layer than the "real wall". An option to be sure of that could maybe be to make the "steel wall" with core slice in -5 or any layer I don't use... ?
