    Hi.

It looks like I have some old panels in my walls. I can see it in the sections to the right and bottom, if I select all layers, but I can't delete it. I can't do anything to it... And it doesn't appear when I select the layers I would normally use for this kind of walls, only if I select all layers.

What can it be and how could I fix it?

Here you can see pictures of the situation. You see the wall element with the wood pieces I use to make the camfered cuts etc. and you see the result. The reason for 2x2 pieces there in the top of the window, is that I took it from wall macro, but it was not long enough, so I copied them. And why I copy them? - Because I can't cut them longer... But why these cuts is not going all the way??

    Hi.

Sometimes intersecting volumes does not work and that can be quite irritating... :? Especially because I am going to use these intersection regularly. This is camfered edges around windows in concrete elements. Some of them works - and some of them does not work. I have tried to adjust precision both ways, but still not all intersections works. Are there other things I can try? I have also tried to make the male part bigger and in another material, but still...

Yeah I can understand that. But in this case it is enough to write that it uses Eurocodes and it can be used with these countrie's additional local rules. I am thinking more about how the program works, what kind of calculations can be made and how (2D, 3D, complete 3D static calculation etc.) - in the case of the Dietrichs Static. This information would be useful to see on the webpages.

Hmmm, very interesting - but this information is impossible to know, even if I would frequently check the Dietrichs homepage. Because the information given on the German version of the webpage and the English version is not the same.
I have mentioned before that your webpage is not good enough to show what is possible with the Dietrichs software. All modules should be described perhaps with a possibility that one can more or less built his own Dietrichs software package and study what he can do with this package. Ah ok this module is not interesting for me, uncheck it, but this module seems interesting, check it and one could read in details what can be done with this module.

But ok, about the U-value and energy calculations - very interesting.

Yeah, I am still working with Jesper and with the Dietrichs software. I can agree with you that the information on Dietrichs homepage about Dietrichs software, modules, what they can do, and also about the Dietrichs Static software - could be better and more detailed. I have mentioned it before. But perhaps they don't have ressources to do it. I don't remember if you have a building engineer / structural engineer education. If not, you should not use such a software and you should not make engineering calculations on strength of building parts. But it depends on what kind of education and experience you have. Take a contact to Markus (yes I know he is often long time to answer, because he is busy or travelling) and tell him what you would like to use the software for and if the software would be useful for those purposes.
There is also a direct e-mail adress to Dietrichs static: kontakt@dc-statik.com you can perhaps try also.

    Hi.
I just got an idea for a new Dietrichs software. Now we have Dietrichs Cad/Cam software with PlanCad and there is the Dietrichs Static software (very good idea - I hope it will develop to a truly 3D static software, with possibilities to calculate also steel and concrete - in 3D).

Next to develop could be a software that can make an more or less automatic calculation and documentation of U-values for the different structures and the total energy / heatloss calculation for the building, that is required present. This calculation is then based on the actual 3D model and based on the actual structures, amount of wood, amount of insulation etc. The user of course have to define - perhaps in the Dietrichs software - the lambda values for insulation, windows etc. - and these values could also be in the "Dietrichs Energy" software in predefined materials.

Yeah, it is a nice feature. Lets say you have some ceilings that are equal or mirrored equal. Then you can copy or mirror the ceiling structure in D-Cam and then assign the new ceiling to the right ceiling number. Then the structure is available in ceiling design.
I don't know if version 8 got a ceiling macro similar to wall macro - but that would be very usefull as well.

All right, I understand if you did not understand completely my question first time. But the main point is that the steel beam of course have to be laying straight in the center of the hip line, with no cuts in it.

I have version 7. I tried both of your suggestions. The double hip beam work around seems to be one that could be my solution, because the lower beam seems correct, but I cannot delete the upper beam, without deleting the lower beam.

Ooooh ok, I got it. I can delete the upper beam in D-Cam. Ok, then everything is ok. I am just not sure if the hip beams are standing vertical now or are tilted a bit? When I look at the top it looks so, but in the corner it looks like the web of the steel beam is standing vertical.

Hi again. Yes I got the answer from the support team (with an outdated list).

But ok, if you read the internet link in my previous post you see this:

The built-in CAD/CAM transfer reads and converts information from the majority of programs currently available and also translates to and from a number of languages. The saw is equipped with a touch screen that displays automatic calculations and changes. You can also follow the sawing process from here.

Yeah - I saw that foxit pdf printer made all these boxes - another failure for that printer!

But Foxit Reader is really excellent! Nice zoom functions, annotation functions etc. And very small size program, fast to load and fast to load PDf files.

"Just for fun" - yeah, that was a funny experience... Does it have anything with PDF to do?

The 3D PDF example is quite interesting - and no, Foxit Reader doesn't have these 3D functions. Just one thing could be nice - the zoom functions as in Dietrichs. But to show a customer or architect the 3D building, yeah could be useful. I don't know if maybe Foxit Reader Pro could show the 3D.

I thought that the contents of this e-mail to Foxit could be of interest for you also:

First I want to say that my favorite PDF reader software is Foxit Reader (free version). Currently I discovered a malfunction or lack of functionallity. You can read about it and the solution in this forum discussion (here I linked to the thread here in the forum about the rotated page).

Out of interest I also tried your PDF Creator. My favorite PDF-printer is without doubt FreePDF XP from Germany. So I tested your Creator, hoping that it would be as good as your reader is better than Adobe Reader. But I was dissapointed. Your PDF Creator was much slower to use and to convert than FreePDF XP - and the result was also dissapointing. See attached to see why. And also the filesize from PDF Creator is significant higher than from FreePDF XP (529 kb against 221 kb). It may not be PDF Creator's fault, but just that it lacks functionallity used together with this drawing program. But on the other hand it should be able to handle all print jobs from all sources, also Cad-programs. But maybe support for Cad-programs is not included yet? Another thing is that it is not free. Many PDF printers are - as well as FreePDF XP.

Then a little about PDF Editor. Good idea to make such program (as well as Creator). I hope in time PDF Editor will get the same functionallity as Adobe Professional, in a lightweight fast package. As far as I can see PDF Editor cannot rotate single pages - or can it?

I like Foxit Reader very much and it could be nice to have a package of PDF programs from only one software company. But then the functionality must be good and the prices low as well. (I think the prices you have now are quite ok, except maybe from Creator).

What PDF printer - and other PDF solution software are you using out there? For editing PDF's - to assemble more PDF files into one - I use PDFedit995.
