No? Is it not possible somehow to make such columns?? I could of course make the shape as a mold, and use intersecting volumes. But isn't there a more direct and automated way?

Hi.
Are there some standard columns, that makes it possible to make columns such as shown on picture??

Hi.
I got below e-mail from Dietrichs. I don't understand it completely as it is in German. What is it about?
Hallo, Sehr geehrte Ausbilder,

I have never changed the line weights for drawings. Only if I occasionally want a line to be very visible.
I usually use colors for prints (but I print mostly on PDF) - but also for paper prints. I use:
- Brown for wood and wooden items.
- Grey for concrete.
- Yellow for insulation.
- Blue for steel items.
- Grey for gypsum.
- Green for membranes, such as floor wool paper.
- Dark yellow for module axis lines.
- Black for dimensions.- To mention some of the most common, I use.

Ahahahaha - excellent tip - I will remember that to the next time... I did it the hard way this time. And when I was more or less finished I realized something... The one house was a mirrored copy of the other house, yes. And when you mirror one house you get 2 houses.
But - In this case, the one house is also a exact copy of the other house - just rotated 90 degrees........ And I found out that when you rotate one house you get one house... So at the end I did in 1 hour what I spend 7-8 on. Just rotate the house -90 and then change wall names according to the house name. ooooouuuuucchhhhhh - so easy!!!!!

Hi.
Assume you have a building, that you mirror to create another building that is a mirrored copy of the first building.
Then I want to delete the one building from the position. Perhaps because the position with both buildings are so heavy, that the program becomes unstable. Do I reeally have to go through and delete every single wall and ceiling?? It takes a long time just to delete one wall. Is it not possible to select everything for that building, including ceiling ares and walls?? In D-cam I can select the objects (timber parts), but I still have to go to ceiling areas and delete every of the single areas and then go to ground plans and delete every single wall. Even though the construction objects have been deleted in D-cam, this still takes very long time.
Is there another way?

I have version 7, but I do not know what to look for. Doesn't you have your version 7 CD? Perhaps it's there?

To summarize, these points are just assisting geometry in the 3d workspace. They can be added and deleted without doing any damage to your model. To delete them, use 4-5 and either select them individually or use "x" on the keyboard and drag a window to select them all and delete.
Hehe, couldn't find it. I have version 7, so here it is under "delete" - 01-7 for example.

Hi.
It seems like my snap options has gone. Normally I can snap to intersecting lines in one click, but this I can't do for the moment. I don't remember where are these settings???- Oh I found it - under assisting geometry...
-
Thank's very good answer...

What is D-Cam points? Can they be (safely) deleted without destroying the 3D model in any way. And if it's ok to delete them, how is that done then?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Dietrichs...

- And it wasn't really sarcastic - I really like Dietrichs very much.
I think in the manual that Markus is going to send, there would be some tutorials - step by step. I am not sure if there are some online tutorials also.

Interesting suggestion - I did try anything else than plates. I will give that a try! ...

Hi.
I am trying to get that of the attached sketc, but the closest I get can be seen on attached pictures.
Why the bottom of the hip beam is not horizontal? Is there any ways to make what I want? It would be nice if it was possible to simply put in a completely rectangular piece of wood in the hip line, as you can in the ridge line. -
Wow that is a long time ago, I had that error. I know about the solution to rename it - but I thought the error was gone in newer versions (even though I still have only version 7).

Yes - when you mirror a house - it can even be a complete house with ceilings and roof-constructions, made with ceiling areas and roof areas. Then everything is counted up - the wall numbering of the mirrored house is counted up, ceiling area numbers are counted up etc. And each and every piece of construction that you have put into your walls, ceilings and roofs are mirrored too. Very nice feature, if you have a house with apartments that are equal, but a mirrored copy from the left half part of the house.

Isn't it better to insert it directly from Excel? (copy / paste).

Ok then I see your point - if you can renumber the windows, so you know what order they are in, then you can easier find in groundplan, what window they are talking about.
But then there could be another option along with the possibility to renumber openings: As you in display style, can choose to show the wall numbers (and at the same time window numbers), it would be useful to be able to choose to show:
- only wall numbers
- only opening numbers
(and of course you can tick both to be shown)
- to show wall names
- to show opening names
Because then you have all the flexibility. If you want to see wall numbering, but you are not interested in opening numbers - but maybe you'd like to see wall numbers and opening names on your screen - then you can just choose these 2 options.
That could what should be written on the wishlist. -
Aaaah, maybe I understand now. If you input an item in D-Cam it is input in the wall that is current. Then to make sure it will already be input in the correct wall or ceiling, you make the wall current first?
Aaahahahaha.... Because when I input windows in D-Cam, I have been irritating that they then belongs to some arbitrary wall. Then I had to select them and move them to belong to D-Cam objects. But if I make D-Cam the current first, then it would not be a problem...
Ok, that is one place where I would find it useful. Apart from that I do not use D-cam for inserting things. I use it for viewing and in some cases for manipulating with things (move, copy and stuff like that).
All right, then I learned something today also...

A normal user (i.e. with a structural engineering education or alike) should be able to retrieve such information. But of course it is not easy. If I got a project to be built in Portugal, then it would be difficult to retrieve the necessary information. So to have structural engineering program, where all this work have already been done for you and you basically just choose country, is of course number one, the best solution.
