• I 'm doing a wall drawing I then receive a message that the template does not have any viewports available. I checked my template and it does have a view port. Why would I receive this message?

  • Hi Der_Planer,

The template has a viewport with a 1:0 scale. I'm able to zoom one viewport and verify the scale in properties. I even changed the viewport scale and still receive the same message. If I change the viewport scale to 0.000 I do not receive the message and in D-Cad the drawing sizes it self to fit the template. My question is, is it possible to have a template with a 1:0 scale and send drawings to it?

  • Hi Der_Planer,

I tried sending a single beam drawing to the template but received the error message. I did get a wall drawing with another template, and was able to open up a drawing storage and insert it into the template set at 1:0. It appears you cannot start off with a template having a viewport with a 1:0 scale and send drawings to it.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Kayaker,

Just so we are clear, all previous template work we have done together had a scale of 0 as seen in the attached picture. This allows a drawing to be automatically blown up to fit just inside the edges of the view port.

Please double check that your view port's scale is set to 0 by starting a new drawing in 2D and select the template that you would like to use. Is the scale set to 0? If not change it to 0 and save this drawing as your new template. Now go back to the construction program and try outputting a drawing to this template. Let me know how it works.

  • Hi Jason,

With all templates set at 0.000 everything is fine. I thought I would be able to create a template from the get go, at a 1:0 scale but I guess that doesn't work. This template would be used for full scale drawings being sent to a CNC machine.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Kayaker,

One more item to clear up. When we say a scale of 1:0 we mean a scale of 0.000. I you want a scale of one to one we show it as 1:1. When you output a drawing you have three choices beside "Round Scale" as seen in the picture below.

    1. None = No predefined scale meaning that the scale will automatically be chosen to fit the drawing into the paper size.

    2. Value = You can predefine the scale so it rounds to the closes number set. e.g. if I set the value to 8 the program will automatically fit the drawing on the paper size and round up to the closest scale of 8's. 8,16,24,32,40,48, etc.

    3. Fixed Value = The drawing will be scaled at the exact value you select.

If you wanted a scale of 1:1 then you would input 1 under "Fixed Value". Depending on what you would like to display with a 1:1 scale you may need a very large paper size!
