making timbers visible in roof design module

  • hello all,

i have a roof timber (king post) that i made in the roof design module. since i needed to copy it a few times around i did so using d-cam.

how can i make the copies visible in the roof design module? only the original shows.

    thanx,
    jorge

I think the copies belong to another builing MOS. Go back to d-cam and use function 6-4. Then select the building MOS to which you want to assign them and pick 'Elements: Add'. Now you select the posts.

With this you should see them in roof design modul.

  • thank you Joachim,

i really apreciate the quick help. your solution worked, and i should have figured out that one myself.

is it possible to make a corner post part of the two walls that meet at that corner, so i can see it as part of the bent, or as part of the section perpendicular to it when using the MOS. i think the MOS doesn't let me do it because that 's not its intended use. i have tried 6-4, and 6-6 (MOS-pakage/element) but they only let the piece be part of one package or the other, for obvious reasons.

i know nothing about the intended use of 6-2 and 6-5 perhaps it is them i should be using?

No, it's not possible. Any part can belong only to one MOS 6-3 to 6-6. But it can belong to every free MOS (6-7), which you can only use with Dicam full version.

6-2 works like a filter, but it does something more. In the last step it reads the actual MOS of the last chosen part.

6-5 is like a "layer" MOS. You can use 6-4, 6-5 and 6-6 for your own purposes, 6-3 is normally used by the program.

All parts, you enter in ceiling-, wall- or roof design, are automatically put into the correct building MOS.
All parts, you create in Dicam, are put in the "actual MOS". You should always switch it to the "correct" one.

A volume can only belong to one single building MOS but you could assign the volume not to a wall but to the floor. So it does not belong to one of the both walls.
I do not know why you need this. Normaly a volume belongs to one wall, one ceiling or one roof face. In wall construction you can switch on the volumes of other walls so you should see the post even if it belongs to another wall. To switch this on see 1-7-1, right upper corner.
