D-cam runs really slow with a large project

  • Hi, i've just joined the forum to see if anyone can shed any light on my problem

I find that when working in d-cam with quite a large number of timbers open, the commands take a long time to happen.

For example, when taking a measurement, cutting a timber or moving a timber, there is a long pause between every stage in which i have to select a point/edge.

If i take most of the timbers away so i'm just working on several pieces of timber rather than hundreds, it runs at an acceptable speed and doesn't slow me down.

I don't think this is a hardware issue as i've just got a new pc which i'm informed should be capable of these tasks.

Its says: Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz, 3.40GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM, Physical Address Extension

My do/undo steps are all set to 0

Any help would be much appreciated.

    I did expect that.
So please speak with your seller. The actual version is 6.01 (but it is very new) and this version is a lot of faster espacially with the undo. The undo steps are the problem in your case. If you switch the undo system off it would be faster too with version 5.04.

  • Hi Buttonpresser

Welcome to the forum. It's good to have another English speaking user.

Another issue might be is if you have a lot of drillings and you have these visualised.

See command 3-1-02 in DiCAM and turn these off.

This will speed things up a great deal. You only really need them on when checking in OpenGL that nothing clashes.
