Wooden plate material at the facade?

  • What is the name of the 60 mm wooden board/plate material, that can be used at the facade, as basis for facade boards etc. This board it self should have good insulation values, and it is not necessary to use a construction with PE (I hate the idea of having plastik in a wooden house!).

Where can I find much more info about this material?????

  • Hi Thorvald,

in Germany they are called "DWD" which is the abbreviation for "Diffusionsoffene Wand und Dachplatte" = "Wall and roof board, pervious for vapour". The name of one of the corresponding products is "Agepan". It consists of wood fibers and is pervious for vapour, but (limitedly) resistant against rain.

  • Hello!

Thank You for the answer! I will try to find it in "Google".

    - If not You know about websites from those who fabricate the material, sell the material, technical data etc.

The material is not known in Denmark (I think) - but it sounds like a good idea (as for example biocore is a very good idea - I could wish it was possible to produce something like Biocore, but with wood - at an affordable price).

  • Inthermo have so far been the most helpful - I have had a good dialogue with them via e-mail.

One thing I would like to ask you about: Can one put the facade boards or log profiles, directly on top of DWD, Intermo etc., or do you always need battens to make ventilation behind the facade??
