When positioning either a horizontal or the vertical section line " the location of the red line does not show on the screen. It makes locating a section difficult I never had this happen before.

The problem on the computer of my colleague suddenly disappeared and he does not know why.

I might have had a similiar problem. Does it only occur when you use the icon to position the section line?
If so, try to use the function through the menu under 1-7-7. -

We found the reason and solved it in version 18.02. This version should already be available with the download link you already got for the download for V18.01.
