Inserting Glazing

  • For a start i dont know how to insert just a glazed unit without a frame, at the moment i am using a vertical beam and chaging the properties to glass.

Also struggling to do a diagonal piece of glass.

    Thanks again,

  • Hi Steve

A vertical beam with transparent properties will do just fine. If I were you I'd make it an Auxilary item (via Object Info). This way it won't find its way onto any lists etc.

Not sure what you mean by diagonal beam. If you want it to run parallel to the Z axis, but simply at an angle, just change the Tilt Angle setting on the dialog box in DiCAM - see picture. You can have a beam or sheet material going in any direction you want. this is a bit more tricky to describe. Callme if you need help.

  • Thanks Rob,

Think i should have explained a little better before, i am doing a glazed gable at the moment and struggling with the triangular glazing in the gable. As it needs to be 8mm bigger than the space left over from the post positions.

Email me if you need the drawing.

    Thanks again.

  • You need a triangular piece of glass? You can make it oversize rectangular, draw the triangle with assisting geometry and then cut the glass panel to these lines. (you should use panel for the glass, not beam).

    - If I understand you correct.
