I'm wondering if there is another way to lengthen an existing arc in PlanCad? I used the corner tool to lengthen / join and then had to draw in a new line this worked for me.

I did a single beam drawing of a steel plate. In PlanCad, the plate came in skewed and of little use for a shop drawing. I deleted the dimensions but still had problems dimensioning to the center of the holes parallel to the steel edge. I can locate assisting geometry lines to help dimension correctly, but it takes more time. How can this be resolved any other way?

    Der_Planer,

In truss design, it's best to have the center lines of all truss members converge to a common point being concentric. Since I am doing my geometry layout in wall design being able to show the axis lines would help for visualization and manipulate if need be. You’re probably going to recommend using assisting geometry lines for my layout which I did. But thought maybe the axis lines could be shown like in D-Cam once the truss members where in place. What brought me to this question was I created an object of the first truss and saved the truss to my library when I placed it in a different wall I didn't have my layout lines which I forgot to select.

    Der_Planer,

I am attaching another JPEG. image. You can see the assisting geometry points in location showing the faces I want to drill. The JPEG drilling wrong shows the drilling received when trying to drill the larger upper plate I receive a message wrong process.

    Thanks!

    Hi Jason,

I like your approach, now when sending the foundation plan to PlanCad (drawings ground plan). How do you handle the footing lines typically they are shown as dashed lines do you manually change the footing lines in PlanCad to dashed lines?

Is there a fast way to dimension to the center of rafters or joists in D-Cad-2D? I know you have to do line /2 or point to point /2 to locate the center of each rafter but is there another way?

    Hi Jens,

I have my foundation walls laid out in ground plan designated BA0 -8'-0" and BA1 - 8'-8" for the footing thickness of 8". I learned that that the two cannot be shown together by doing 016. It appears there are several different ways of going about this showing the foundation wall and footing on the same drawing in D-Cad- 2D. I'm just not sure which way is best.

I decided I want to place and show foundation footings, column pads, etc. in my model I'm able to do this, I have two options for placement. One, create the footings in the wall module BA level or two; create another level for just the footings / column pads. I'm finding it very difficult, to show a foundation plan in one fell swoop with foundation features, footings and column pads. I would have thought that by selecting drawing ground plan I would get the result I'm looking for quickly. Now that I'm playing around, it appears to me that the only way to show what I want is through D-Cam save current view?

I have openings in a wall for typical casement combinations I would like to create a wall macro for this combination. This would allow me to insert more of the same type into additional walls quickly. Can this be done?

    Thanks!

    Der_Planer,

Thanks for the guidance I was able to remove the OSB from the gable. Now I'm trying to create the overhang at the location shown on my 1st attachment by doing 4-4-1 move line I receive a message optional function? My second attachment shows a plan view of the roof.

I would like to add an overhang to my roof at the location shown see attachment. And also remove the OSB from the gable area it appears this roof surface wrapped into the gable area. Can anyone help?

    Thanks!
