Hello Jens,
Yes, the notch function did extend to beam into the post by 2" correctly. But the column received a housing 8" wide rather than the 3" width of the beam.

Hi Jens,
The beam is running into the column with its end grain. If you still need a sketch let me know.
Thanks
I have a 3x beam and an 8x column the beam is flush to one side of the column and I want to let this 3x beam into the column and have 2" of bearing ( no tenon ). What I have tried so far gets me a housing the full width of the column I need the housing to be the same width as the 3x beam with 2 " of bearing. Please advise.
Thanks!

Is it possible to draw a curved wall in ground plan? And if so could someone please advise.
Thank You!

Der_Planer,
You saved my day! Now I can head off to the river and go kayaking!
Greatly Appreciated!

Please see attachment. I was able to do a perpendicular drilling in one leg of the connector but have run into problems do a perpendicular drilling in the other where I have assisting geometry points. Can anyone advise?

Hi Der_Planer,
I just thought I would let you know I have my export dxf to my CNC operator all worked out. By exporting out of D-cam and importing into my other cad program and tweaking the drawing. I hope in the near future PlanCad will easily handle exporting to a CNC laser cutting machine. Thanks to all that helped.

Hello Der_Planer
In menu I see my project folder but the file does not exist. Now I have two I Can't find. Shouldn't I be able to locate the file from PlanCad as well? 8O

I'm saving a current view in D-Cam and selecting File formate DXF 2000 and gave it a name. Now where is this file stored? I can not find it.

Hi The_Planer,
I just saved a current view in D-Cam and selected dxf 2000. Now I need to acess this dxf file from PlanCad and make corrections to the drilled holes. Where do I go from here? Export dxf from PlanCad to my fabricator.
I tried exporting my metal shape by going to 3D export. When I first started to do the 3D export I went to a front view, the view I needed of my metal shape and did the export. I then opened the dxf file in PlanCad and it was in a plan view which was the view I did not need. Today I will call the operator of the laser CNC machine. I'm thinking I'll likely have to do the same as Der_Planer mentioned. I'm thinking it may be best to do a save current view from D-Cam bring it into PlanCad and export dxf from PlanCad.
Thanks!

Can anyone provide a quick explanation (most reliable way) to export a 3-D metal shape created in D-Cam to a CNC machine.
Thanks!
Kayaker
Ok, now it appears that D-Cad has brought in the hip rafter but the scale of the beam and dimensions don't coincide.
Kayaker
Still having problems. It seems to happen when holes have been drilled in the hip and jack rafter. Again I get dimensions only, no beam lines. 8O

Hi Joachim,
I followed your instructions but it did not work. I then tried the tabloid default and it worked. I guess at this point it only makes sense to create a new company template off the tabloid default.

I have a hip rafter in roof design when I select single beam drawing from roof design, In D-Cad the dimensions are shown and one end view but not the lines of the hip rafter?
Kayaker
Trying to access DLM I receive a dialog box No access to A:\.Device not ready.

Thanks Joachim,
What I did was created a slice in my roof and used the rising plate tool in roof design went back to D-Cam copied and distribute the purlins along the rafter length. It got me what I wanted. So I could have entered the purlins I wanted in my roof profile would I have done this with battens settings?
Thanks for the reply !
Kayaker
I have a roof profile, I placed plates and rafters using rafter and plates from proflie. Now I want to distribute purlins on top of the rafters along it's length. Is there a tool to do this? I'm trying the tool rising plates, but can't seem to get the purlins on the top of the rafter.
Thanks!

Hi Jim,
I was able to see my image this time...It took several tries I had to go back into D-Cam and redo the save current view.
