Where to find the texture "Metall Cladd 1"?? How to change the color - with brightness? But with that I couldn't change the color to red t.ex. - if that is what I wished. I use Paint Shop Pro, version 7.

I am making a roof that is covered with sinus shaped thin steel plates. When making roof properties I found "Metall Cladd 1".

But I can't find a way to change the color of the steel plate to black, since this is only a slice panel, not a real construction object??

Hello, I was trying to input skylights in the roof in this house, but the program crashes. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Well, I couldn't upload the position file (2 Mb), there is an upload error.

    Hello.

For the convenience of work (and to avoid a chrash and delete all event) - I decided to split this 5 story house into two positions. One position with the first 3 stories and another position with the 2 top stories and roof.

And the I have made an empty position called "complete house". This position I will use to assemble the complete house for 3D viewing only. (If the computer have enough power to do so - we will see about that).

I don't remember exactly how to get the stories from the other positions into this position?

Will this position with the complete house link to the other 2 positions, so that changes made in these 2 positions will be updated in the complete model??

About ram: It seems like there would be no use to go for 8 GB ram. Dietrichs uses around 1-1,5 GB, so it would be better to go for 4 GB ram. With 8 GB ram one also have to use a 64 bit version of Windows.

About Graphic card: Can Dietrichs take advantage of 2 graphic cards in the computer? Would a quadro graphic card give excellent performance of Dietrichs, even with big models - or only as good as a 8800 geforce with as much ram as possible?

Jeg har modtaget en 3D model af en betontrappe, tegnet i AutoCad. Jeg skal så se om den passer ind i byggeriet og jeg har huset tegnet op i Dietrichs. Kan man importere denne trappe ind i min D.... Aaaarghh, I don't think you undertstand much of this...... #-o

I have received a 3D model of a concrete stair, made in AutoCad. I am supposed to check if it fits into the building, and I have made the house in Dietrichs. Is it possible to import this stair into my Dietrichs model??

Ok - no one seems to answer my last post  - but maybe I also got it right now. But I am still investigating what hardware should be inside a computer if / when I someday decide to buy a new computer - to get best performance from Dietrichs. Both when it comes to the speed of the program and when it comes to the OpenGL performance - even with large projects.

Processor: I understand that Dietrichs have more need for memory than for processor. It can use multicores, but it can not take great advantage of quad core processors. So a fast dual core processor might give better performance and here, why not go for the fastest: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500, with 45 nm technology, 6 Mb level 2 cache, 1333 MHz front side bus and a clock speed of 3,16 GHz, and with Intel VT and Intel TXT technologies.

Ram: You are talking about that Ram is important. I think maybe this is both for system memory and for the amount of Ram in the graphic card. For system memory I would go for 8 GB Ram. Of course the faster Ram, the better, but t.ex. Kingston HyperX Ram as KHX:DDR2 or KHX:DDR3 would be perfect for Dietrichs??

Graphic card: I guess I could go for a NVidia graphic card with as much memory as possible. A possibility could be GeForce 8800GTX - 768MB - PCI E / Lownoise (SLI). I have been offered a computer configuration with 2 of these graphic cards on board. Would 2 graphic cards give better Dietrichs performance? Can Dietrichs use 2 graphic cards? Another possibility is the quadro graphic cards, that are developed to give excellent performance with AutoCad. What about Dietrichs - would a quadro graphic card give excellent performance or only as good as a Geforce 8800's???

If one or more wall is equal or almost equal to another wall, it could be even more simple to use wall macro (1-5-1) and save the wall. If the wall is not completely equal to the saved wall timbers, then just insert the wall and adjust the wall timbers.

I don't know if this method will work in your case?

We use a second core if this makes sence and there is a technical possibility.

What you mean? Is the program, programmed to use more than one core or not - and then if the program needs more processor power it uses more than one core??
