about roof line properties

There is no direct way but you can use the calculator we have available in all input fields.
Just enter: offset with ground measurement / cos angle of the roof

  • Hi Joachim

thanks for your prompt response. I have been using trigonometry all along, that is not the problem.

dietrichs calculates overhang along the bottom side of the rafter. The "difficulty" happens when you use the drip edge of the roof (roughly the upper side of the rafter) as the overhang.

then the input needed in dietrichs in order to get the appropriate ground dimension for the drip edge overhang becomes:

(offset ground dimension) / cos (roof pitch) - (dimensional height of rafter) x tan (roof pitch)

this, of course, becomes less simple, and more tedious and given to mistakes, which was the reason for my enquiry in the first place.

    cheers
