When I put a dormer on my roof, the dormer does not automatically cut the rafters. Should the software do that automatically or I have to do that manually?? And if automatically - then how?
Dormer automatically cuts rafters???

Hi Thorvald,
the dormer cut the rafters automaticly, you must define (the right word) the height of it  -
I think the solution is much more easier. After placing the dormer and leaving the dormer modul just change to roof design (1-2-6) and select the function 5-5-6.

Hello again,
this is right, but if you define the hole of the dormer, the rafters are cut automaticly?!?
For me it´s logic, to define the dormer at first before I change into roof- design :?
-
Well, the solution that doug said, does not work for me. .. And Joachim's solution does not work also.
-
Position file. It is first time I work with dormers, so maybe I don't understand everything.

Hi Thorvald,
I think your problem is in the dormer. The ridge of the dormer is higher than the ridge of your main roof. So the dormer cuts no hole into the main roof and the rafters cannot been cut  -
Hello again,
use the roof profile at first, in this profile you can define a dormer profile, too  -
Where are the timbers in my dormer walls?? Are they not accesible in the position file I send? I can not acces the timbers in wall design, but they are there somewhere.

Hi Thorvald,
in Dicam you can use "middle mouse button" - volume info to check in which program module the beam has been entered. Maybe that helps.
