'Free' Cutting A Beam Element

  • Hello!
I would like to cut a beam at an angle lengthwise (taper the posts near the top of my project to the width of the beam) as seen in my picture.
I also need to have a couple of 'feet' on one foot. (Cut out a strip 1/2" by 18" on the base) Essentially I would like to be able to cut objects in many planes if that is possible.

I've also added a couple of videos to my blog here, if you're interested. Just about finished Timber Framing Program in Kimberley!

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Bavariaboy,

I am not sure if I understood you correctly, but cutting in user defined planes is no problem at all in Dicam:

-You can use the functions 3-4-1 General Cut or 3-4-8 Cut Perpendicular To View
-In the single beam info (middle mouse button), you can click "New", select "Cut off" and enter the parameters for the cut manually.
-You can also use the Smart Tags (3-2-2) to enter a cut off.

Please tell me if I have misunderstood your question.

By the way: The size of Avatars of our users generally does not exceed a size of 120 x 120 pixels. Could you also adapt your Avatar to this size?

    Best regards,

    Jens

    Don't you mean 3-5-1 and 3-5-8?

  • It appears that my tools bars did not update when I loaded the new 6.01 as I did a parallel installation.
I think I need to correct this.....
Maybe this should be addressed in a future update that parallel installation should also update the tools bars. Can this be done?
