Dietrich' on LAN

  • At office i'm asked to install 3 different Dietrich on 3 different pc whit only one Projekt folder located in a 4th pc on the LAN. Unfortunately when i go to the menu and i search for the internal LAN i not find anything. The only devices that i can see are the drives of the pc in wich Dietrich is running on (such as c:, d., cdrom, dvd, etc). The only way to see a LAN resource is to "connect as a web unit" in the local pc. Is the right way to proceed or is not right that Dietrich' not see web resources? Can you explain me (step by step hehe) how to connect a folder on the LAN as a default project folder on the local pc?

    Thnx for answers

  • If I understand this question correctly I would also like to know if this is possible. Right now when I go to open up a project I cannot see my shared folders that are on my local network.

The same rule applies when I use the project copy function 1-6 from the menue screen. In the destination window I can not see my local network places.

Galloppini, please let me know what you mean as "connect as a web unit".

  • HI

Once i had the same problem. One solution-- You have to connect with pc where you have dietrichs project as network Connection, then you have just one more drive in your pc( like X: ).Then be sure that in Dietrichs main menu 5-5( restrict view...) is on.

  • I'm sorry but i've not the english version of Windows Xp and so i've translated my options in "connect as a web unit". After i've knew that is "connect network drive" hehe. I'm glad to se that my idea was right. Thnx to all for anwers :grinning_squinting_face:

  • Thanks everyone, that is exactly what I was looking for.

Jens, can you briefly explain a couple rules that may apply when woking with projects that are shared on the network. What happens if two people are woking on the same project at the same time?

    Hi Jason,

this is not possible. You should not work in the same directory because you will get problems.
