Problems with intersecting volumes.

  • Hi.

I am having troubles with intersecting volumes - and I am doing or want to do cut-outs that I have done before.

I have a concrete deck with both massive deck elements and hollow core slabs. I want to make cuts to fit the elements together, for installation shafts and so on.

It seems like that today, I can do it in the massive slabs but not in the hollow core slabs. They are both made the same way in material database, as panels and inserted with the X / Y joists. I think I am normally able to make the same kind of cuts also in the hollow core slabs. To make these cuts, I make some blocks of SPF, that represents the border of the cuts - can be in the middle of an element or at the side.

  • Ok - this drives me nuts. It is still not working. It works in the massive slabs and in steel beams - but not in the hollow core slabs. And I am sure I have done it before. Is it a windows 7 "thing"?

Steel beam objects are profiled beams. Both my massive concrete slabs and my hollow core concrete slabs are made as panels in material database.

  • All right - I got through it for now. How? I did it with a combination of replacing the hollow core slabs with new ones and with using panels, to make the cuts. Normally I don't think one has to use panels to cut in panels - but today that seemed to work better.

I think it is just so, that sometimes intersection volumes, requires a lot of patience...

But why is the function so unstable? Why sometimes it works and sometimes not?
