It depends on which part you want to have on top or bottom. You may need to figure the load and have the heaviest on bottom and enough bearing surface to support that load.
It can be a challenge to cut certain ways and get what you want. You may try several to find one that works for you. -

Well I would make another piece of wood and put it so it "fills" the hole you want. And then in D-Cam use intersecting volumes, to remove the wood you want to remove.

Yes, but you can do it in Dietrichs before you output the machine files. That would be the normal way to do it.
I am fine - still going strong with work and Dietrichs.
