Hi. I have somehow messed up my ceilings. I had made some ceilings for GF1 og GF2. Then I decided that the ceiling for GF1 should belong to BA and the ceiling for GF2 should belong to GF1. This I thought I could do in Building MOS. But the ceiling areas didn't follow.

Now I would like to start over with the ceilings and deleted GF2 deleted ceilings for GF1, and made new ceiling areas for GF1. But when I came to the ceilings in BA and made new ceiling areas I found that I suddenly had 6 ceilings in BA and 3 as supposed to. I would like to delete all the ceilings in BA, but how to delete them in building MOS?? In ceiling areas there apears 6 ceilings in the list, but there are really only 3, the others just contains beams.

Allright, thanks for the information. In version 8 it will be even easier to exchange information of different kind between different users, as far as I have understood.

For the hollow core slabs I have calculated the weight per length from a cross section that I put into D-Cad. And this I have written into material database, and it works quite well. We are at our factory (also) produsing the slabs ourself, as well as concrete walls, wooden walls etc.

For concrete plates, like walls, I am using a material under sheating, boards and panels, that I call concrete aux, and this I have given the weigth pr. m3. This also works, also for sections where part of the concrete wall is thicker than other parts (like in sandwich elements).

If / when I send this project to my coworkers, to make production drawings etc. - they cannot make this "determining values" in D-Cam, unless if they have the same material database as I have, right? How to send that to them, I have to send the whole folder, right? And this is DHPDBA, if I remember correct?

Hmm., still nobody. Well after I put some hollow core slabs in a ceiling I went to material database and input the weight of the HCS in kg/m. Then I put a new HCS in the ceiling. Then determined values in D-Cam - but they were exact the same - so I am not sure if D-cam calculates the value after profile's weight reference or after the kg/m2 weight of the concrete (after calculating the volume). But the values are appr. as the values I could determine with help from PlanCad.

I just wonder if it is enough to give material database the weight of the material (kg/m3) and then use that material or if I have to give the weight reference for each profile??

Yeah, Markus have shown me a bit of the main window in version 8. And I liked it. I was just wondering if these things as I mentioned will be possible in PlanCad?

Also the feature, that you can open more than one project in different windows is something I am going to like very much. Yes I must try to be patient... But I feel like a small child before christmas...

Hi - I could think of many ideas to improve the program, but since I have probably already mentioned some of the ideas else where, I will spare you for that.

Just on thing I just thought about - if this will be a new function in version 8: When working on several part-projects within a project it can be a bit confusing to keep order in the different drawings for the different parts (t.ex. buildings) within the same project. I.e. if there are more than one building in the project. It could perhaps be convenient to have maybe a kind of a folder structure within PlanCad - so that drawings for building 1 is in one folder and for building 2 in another folder. So when you open one folder you see only drawings from that building. It is ok for me if the drawing file numbers starts from 0 for each folder. These folders could naturally follow the positions in the main project. So that position 1 contains building 1 etc. and drawings for building 1 are solely contained in "folder 1" in PlanCad. In this way one could also have a position for miscellangelous drawings, test drawings, test models etc. - but still within the project where it belongs.

I know how to get the weight and center of gravity of a wall. And I know it is possible to choose layers or all layers. What about the volume of t.ex. concrete material in m3 in a wall - how to get that. And take for example a concrete sandwich element: Here it would be nice to get the values volume and weight of concrete for layers separately, and for the whole element (or the values for the whole element can be calculated maunally from the other mentioned values).

Materials like SPF is given 400-600 kg/m3 as weight reference - but how can the program then calculate the weight of a wood structure - is it using the average value 500 kg/m3. Profiled beams on the other hand is given kg/m as reference.

My hollow core slabs, I should probably give kg/m as reference. Or can I simply use kg/m3 and then the program will calculate the true section area of the hollow core slab and then give the correct weight of one slab?? But if I want to have a material "concrete", that I will use primarily as a panel material, then I can make "concrete" in the same way as t.ex. OSB and give it 2450 kg/m3 as weight reference??? And then I will get correct weight of wall elements, etc. Would this work also on walls that I have already made a model of??

Yeah, after a bit work. But it is a point for wishlist to have a function that can make this kind of view. Perhaps as simple section cuts (but these you cannot show in OpenGL). Or as viewplane function that we have been talking about before - similar to a function in Tekla.

Hmm. Ok, I see what you mean, but it is not exactly how I like it. See attached picture. This I have made by copying the floor element to a new position. Then I made a big piece of wood, rotated it in D-Cam and used intersecting volumes to receive the cut. This kind of section cut is what I am really talking about. A function that can do this in wall design, in ceiling design, roof design and in D-cam, would be quite nice. This picture is going to be used to describe the built-up of the floor.

Hi - well no, this is not what I am talking about. It is more like this picture, I am thinking about. But in my case the example is: I have a floor element t.ex. I would like to be able to make a cut section, that is not either vertical or horizontal, but in an angled plane through the floor element. So in this way the single layers becomes visible - and is possible to show in OpenGL. Do you understand what I mean?

    Ok, thanks, I understand now.

About material list take off, it seems like you have to make take off for walls, then for ceilings and then for roofs etc. Is it possible to take off a material list for a entire position?

A thing that is a bit unnecessary, is that the program t.ex. takes 47x200 and 200x47 as two different timber sizes. Then you have to "manually" calculate the total amount of 47x200, that you need.

No, that is not what I meant. I meant if it is possible to take out a list of elements and the names that was given in the program. And this element could even be with the length and height / width of the elements.

Probably this would be possible more or less right away with wall elements. Except I am not 100% sure, because I am not using the wall numbers, but the names that you can assign to the walls.

But we would probably need more (or like to do more) than the program can do for the moment.

We are making lists of all our elements: Wooden wall elements, concrete wall elements, hollow core and massive slabs, single steel beams and columns, wooden roof elements etc., etc.

But as for now roof elements are not made as elements - eh I mean the model for the roof is made as one, and then when making production drawings we select the parts that are into that element in D-cam and make drawings from that. The same with ceilings.

I think I would like the following these to be possible if not already possible:
    - Each wall element can be assigned with a name, both wooden walls and concrete walls. (This is possible).
    - Each hollow core slab can be assigned with a element name. (Not possible).
    - Each part (element) of a wooden ceiling can be assigned with a element name. (Not possible).
    - To select parts in D-cam, and tell the program, that this is one element, with this name. This could be elements in roof, in ceiling, steel parts or other parts that together makes an element. (Not possible).
    - For these parts / elements Dietrichs should then be able to make lists, with these elements, listed after element names, wooden or concrete elements, the size of element, the weight of the element, and for concrete elements the volume of concrete that goes into the element - and from that volume the weight of element, with reference to say 2,45 tons pr. m3. (This could of course be assigned in material database by the user, because there are different types of concrete).

I hope you get the idea, of what I think would be nice to have as possibilities in the program.

Ok - new problem with this - or at least similar roof. The profile that should cover the ridges of the roof. First I tried to input it as a slanting rafter, but the profile was cut, so that was not a big success. Then I input it as a rafter and rotated it, to go over this edge of the roof. But the rafter, doesn't have the correct slope. So how to do that??

The top "normal" ridge of the roof can probably be done with a ridge beam.

Hi. I have been making a lot of profiles in the material database. T.ex. I have made some in profiled beams. But when I input them as rafters, the move from the point where I want to position them. My best guess is that it have something to do with the origin point. But I don't know how to determine it, and if that is the case - to get the correct origin. Is the origin the coordinate number 1 or is it always 0,0?? Because in this case my 0,0 is the coordinate number 10. Is it possible to correct whatever is wrong and how?

Another thing is, that in my head it seems natural to start with 0,0 in the lower left corner and then work my self through the profile to the right with positive coordinates. But if I input positive coordinates, the profile is drawn the left not to the right side of my first point. This is sometimes a bit irritating - I just don't understand the meaning of it?
